BELLINGHAM, Wash. — SteelFiber shafts, designed and manufactured by Aerotech Golf, chalked up two Top 10 finishes on the Champions Tour this week. SteelFiber scored a T3 and T5 at the Shaw Charity Classic, held at Canyon Meadows Golf & Country Club in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
The two veteran players who captured the Top Five money playing SteelFiber i110 graphite iron shafts together account for 31 PGA TOUR career victories, including two Masters Championships, an Open Champion, and 17 wins on the Champions Tour. In addition to the Champions Tour success, SteelFiber shafts also made history overseas. Last fall’s winner of the U.S. Senior Amateur has just won the Seniors (British) Amateur Championship playing SteelFiber i95 graphite iron shafts. The victory marks an extremely rare ‘double’ for amateur golf.
“We’re always excited when professional players trust their game to SteelFiber graphite iron shafts, but it feels especially rewarding when players of such high esteem and accomplishment play SteelFiber,” said Aerotech Golf President Chris Hilleary. “SteelFiber is unlike traditional steel shafts which have basically remained the same for 80 years. SteelFiber gives greater vibration dampening and reduces player fatigue, while simultaneously providing the consistency, accuracy and stability that players usually attribute to steel shafts. It’s an innovative combination that provides increased distance and enables golfers to play at their best for longer periods of time. And that always translates to a greater enjoyment for the game.”
SteelFiber shafts provide superior performance through innovative composite engineering that combines a high-modulus graphite core with 59 miles of steel fiber lacing the shaft surface. The shaft’s graphite core provides vibration dampening, increased clubhead speed and maximum distance, while the steel fibers produce optimum weighting for a solid feel at impact and add stability and control for pinpoint accuracy.
Last year, SteelFiber shafts delivered seven wins — three on the PGA Tour and two each on the Champions and LPGA Tours. The previous tour season was equally successful with SteelFiber chalking up five wins on the PGA TOUR and two more on the Champions Tour. Players with SteelFiber shafts routinely rank high on the PGA Money List, Official World Golf Rankings and the FedEx Cup Season Points. In 2013, for example, SteelFiber players ranked No. 2 and No. 3 in the FedEx Cup Season Points and ended overall as No. 3 and No. 5 on the PGA Money List.
