BELLINGHAM, Wash. — The No. 1 graphite iron shafts in golf, SteelFiber shafts delivered Top Five money positions this weekend on the top three U.S. tours. Designed and manufactured by Aerotech Golf, SteelFiber shafts landed a T5 at the Wyndham Championship on the PGA Tour; T2 at the Dick’s Sporting Goods Open on the Champions Tour; and T4 at the LPGA Championship on the LPGA Tour.
At the Wyndham Championship, the 2012 FedEx Cup champion shot a 68-65-66-67 (266) with SteelFiber i95 shafts (stiff flex) in his irons. He took home a share of fifth place. On the Champions Tour, the 1998 Masters and U.S. Open champions shot a final-round 66 in the Dick’s Sporting Goods Open and moved up to fourth in this week’s Power Rankings. He played SteelFiber i110 graphite shafts (stiff flex) in his irons. Meanwhile, the LPGA Championship brought together the LPGA’s top players, and the Swedish-born, four-time LPGA winner claimed a share of fourth place playing SteelFiber i95 shafts (regular flex) in her irons.
“We’re thrilled with the success that SteelFiber graphite shafts continue to demonstrate on the world’s top tours,” says Chris Hilleary, president of Aerotech Golf. “SteelFiber shafts are well-known for delivering the power of graphite and the stability of steel, and are becoming a popular, high-performance alternative for pros around the world. The game-changing technology that makes SteelFiber shafts unique provides greater vibration dampening, reduces fatigue and increases clubhead speed more than traditional steel shafts while still maintaining solid feel and stability.”
SteelFiber shafts provide superior performance through innovative composite engineering that combines a high-modulus graphite core with 59 miles of steel fiber lacing the shaft surface. The shaft’s graphite core provides vibration dampening, increased clubhead speed and maximum distance, while the steel fibers produce optimum weighting for a solid feel at impact and add stability and control for pinpoint accuracy.
Last year, players with SteelFiber shafts in their irons won seven events — five on the PGA TOUR and two on the Champions Tour. Players with SteelFiber shafts also ranked No. 2 and No. 3 in the FedEx Cup Season Points at the end of the regular season. SteelFiber shafts were also No. 6 and No. 12 in FedEx Cup Playoff Points; and ended 2013 overall as No. 3 and No. 5 on the PGA Money List; Nos. 8 and 9 in official world rankings; and tied for first and fourth in Top 10 finishes.
