BELLINGHAM, Wash. — SteelFiber graphite iron shafts by Aerotech Golf are the No. 1 graphite iron shaft on all top U.S. Tours, and that success is crossing over to multiple international tours as well. This weekend, SteelFiber scored a victory on the Sematra Tour, a second- and sixth-place finish on the LPGA Tour, a second-place on the Champions Tour and an exciting third-place on the Japan Golf Tour.
Playing SteelFiber graphite shafts in her irons, the first-time Symetra Tour champion won with a two-stroke victory at the Symetra Classic. Meanwhile on the LPGA Tour, two SteelFiber players took second- and sixth-place at the Airbus LPGA Class. Plus, the runner-up at the 75th Senior PGA Championship relied on SteelFiber for his wedge play.
One of the most interesting SteelFiber successes this weekend was by Australian pro Brad Kennedy on the Japan Golf Tour. Last week, Kennedy switched to SteelFiber shafts in his irons and wrote an email to Aerotech Golf President Chris Hilleary, saying he was “looking forward to finding out how good the Steelfiber i95 shaft performs under pressure.” Kennedy found out quickly with a share of third-place at the Kansai Open.
“We’re very excited with SteelFiber’s growing success on pro tours around the world,” says Chris Hilleary, president of Aerotech Golf. “SteelFiber shafts offer game changing innovation, and more and more professional and amateur golfers alike are discovering the performance benefits of these unique graphite iron shafts. For senior players as well as both men and women players, the SteelFiber graphite iron shafts reduce player fatigue, increase clubhead speed and provide greater vibration dampening compared to standard steel shafts, plus they simultaneously give the stabilty and shot consistency that many players get in steel shafts. It’s really the best of both worlds.”
SteelFiber shafts provide superior performance through innovative composite engineering that combines a high-modulus graphite core with 59 miles of steel fiber lacing the shaft surface. The shaft’s graphite core provides vibration dampening, increased clubhead speed and maximum distance, while the steel fibers produce optimum weighting for a solid feel at impact and add stability and control for pinpoint accuracy.
In 2013, players with SteelFiber shafts in their irons won five events on the PGA TOUR and two events on the Champions Tour. Players with SteelFiber shafts also ranked No. 2 and No. 3 in the FedEx Cup Season Points at the end of the regular season. SteelFiber shafts were also No. 6 and No. 12 in FedEx Cup Playoff Points; and ended 2013 overall as No. 3 and No. 5 on the PGA Money List; Nos. 8 and 9 in official world rankings; and tied for first and fourth in Top 10 finishes.
