BELLINGHAM, Wash. — SteelFiber graphite iron shafts, designed and manufactured by Aerotech Golf, claimed Top 10s at the Tucson Conquistadores Classic on the Champions Tour and the JTBC Founders Cup on the LPGA Tour.
The 1998 winner of The Masters and The Open Championship played SteelFiber i110 graphite shafts in his irons and took sole possession of third-place at the Tucson Conquistadors Classic. He shot a strong 71-69-66 (206) and is now tied for second in the Charles Schwab Cup with 309 points. Meanwhile, the Swedish-born, 1999 LPGA Championship winner claimed a share of sixth-place at the JTBC Founders Cup, playing SteelFiber i95 graphite shafts in her irons. She shot 72-67-70-64 (273).
“Both of this week’s Top 10 finishers shot their best game in the fourth and final round, and this is not uncommon for players using SteelFibers shafts,” says Chris Hilleary, president of Aerotech Golf. “Unlike traditional steel shaft designs that have basically remained unchanged for more than 80 years, SteelFiber graphite iron shafts are a game-changer. The innovative SteelFiber technology delivers stability and increases distance, while they simultaneously reduce the risk of injury, lessen aggravation of existing injuries and decrease player fatigue. This combination allows players to play their best for longer periods of time and finish stronger.”
SteelFiber shafts provide superior performance through innovative composite engineering that combines a high-modulus graphite core with 59 miles of steel fiber lacing the shaft surface. The shaft’s graphite core provides vibration dampening, increased clubhead speed and maximum distance, while the steel fibers produce optimum weighting for a solid feel at impact and add stability and control for pinpoint accuracy.
Last season, SteelFiber shafts delivered seven wins — three on the PGA Tour and two each on the Champions and LPGA Tours. The previous tour season was equally successful with SteelFiber chalking up five wins on the PGA TOUR and two more on the Champions Tour. Players with SteelFiber shafts routinely rank high on the PGA Money List, Official World Golf Rankings and the FedEx Cup Season Points. In 2013, for example, SteelFiber players ranked No. 2 and No. 3 in the FedEx Cup Season Points and ended overall as No. 3 and No. 5 on the PGA Money List.
